When we have something to offer specific people - our target market, we need to find out where we can find them online. In this article I will help you to find your ideal marketing using forums.
There is a forum online for just about every topic these days. People are becoming more and more interested in connecting with like minded people and this is good news for online marketers.
It means that there are specific places online that you can visit and find a large proportion of your target audience all in the one place!
Forums are great for marketing purposes, making contacts and coming up with product ideas too.
This is how you would go about finding your particular ideal prospects using forums.
1. Google Search
Do a Google search for your particular topic of interest. Use common keywords that describe your niche and then add the word forum at the end.
e.g. keyword forum
2. Best Forums
You will probably find quite a few forums but not all of them will be suitable for you. Some might be old and no longer active. Others might be paid only forums and others might not allow you to advertise in any way.
Open up at least 20 forums in your browser and look at the results.
For each forum scroll down to the bottom of the page and see if there are any active members and how many.
If there are none or very few then don't bother with that forum - you won't get enough exposure.
3. Signatures
Now that you have only active forums the next thing to check is whether or not you can add a signature to your profile.
A signature if a sentence or 2 that you have at the bottom of any post you add to the forum. Look to see if people are using signatures and if there is a clickable link in the signature. If so then you should be able to do the same if you join the forum.
You might find that you have to post a certain number of times before your signature becomes visible.
Use your signature to send people to your site.
4. Get Involved
Now get involved on those forums that you have chosen. Remember that forums are places that people go to for help so don't use it to promote your business - that is what your signature is for.
The more you get involved the more people will see your signature and visit your site.
