Expand Your Identity & Achieve Your Dreams

I am travelling through the pages of "Awaken the Giant Within", by Anthony Robbins. Reading it for about the 4th time over the years and on every reading gaining new insights. They say when the student is ready a tutor will be found. It is a hefty book packed with new ways of thinking. Currently I am reading about expanding your identity. By changing your core beliefs and beliefs about yourself you can change your identity and grow to achieve your dreams.

The chapter begins with a description of how the Chinese communists, in war-time, converted American captives to renounce their beliefs and divulge military secrets to the enemy. This was not done by physical torture but by redirecting the soldiers belief system until they were prepared to sign a statement, so great was their brain washing.

Another incident mentioned was a school teacher who believed so strongly in her pupil's ability she convinced them they were ace students, despite them previously labelled slow learners, we are all capable of much more than we think we are.

I have personally experienced, raising slow learners view of themselves and awakening their potential when teaching. Teachers have such an important role with young minds. It is very satisfying seeing them respond to your enthusiasm and expand their capabilities.

So how can you really change or expand your core beliefs and expand your thinking?

Many people have a great fear of uncertainty of the unknown and would rather live with what they know than challenge their fears. Which helps to explain why battered wives remain in an intolerable situation. They have been led to believe they are inferior, or they are causing the problems and no one else would want them. This brain washing together with fearing change, leads them to remain in a bad situation until usually something inside them snaps and they can stand it no-longer. "The straw that broke the camels back"

Another illustration of achieving what we expect: If we believe we are a fat person, although we can lose weight, we are likely to b put is on again until we change our identity and think of ourselves as a slim trim person. Slim people often take their build for granted and don't expect to be any other way!

There are various exercises within the pages to allow you to try the experiments and see for yourself how changing your beliefs can change your outlook, your view of what you can achieve. If you could choose your wildest dreams what would you achieve, how would your life be different?

A few years ago I decided I would give up the rat race and start an online business. After a few hiccups I found a great coach and mentor on YouTube, and my online business flourished. We now winter in the sun and spend our summers in the English countryside, meeting up with friends and family.

* Guest Blogging

Guest blogging is pretty common nowadays and there are many blogs accepting guest posts. Again, you need to make a list of the most relevant blogs that accept guest posts and see their guidelines carefully. Then, just follow them and try to be accepted. Make sure the blogs you choose allow you to have at least one link pointing to your website.

Each one of these methods works on its own; but it's far better to use them all to see more results, sooner. Consistency is the key and with time, you'll see a steady growth in your new visitors and visitors coming back to your website.

Do You Achieve As Much As You Expect to?

I have so many things I want to set in motion for my business but it all takes time, longer than I expect. I think I will get so much done when I sit at my laptop. I am quite disciplined and settle down about 9 am, sometimes before, and usually I have already written an article in note form ready to upload, but where does the time go?

I recently watched a webinar stating how good video marketing is both for direct traffic and via Google. I have spent several days watching videos on the simplest ways of creating videos for YouTube. I saw a video about using a web-cam on your laptop and creating it directly to YouTube but that is no longer possible.

I then decided power-point and audacity would be the answer, it sounded quite plausible on the video. As I don't have power-point and couldn't find a program to down load, I connected to power-point live and made my presentation, plus my sound track, only to find I needed a laptop version to combine them. Back to square one! I then downloaded movie-maker, made my slides and voice over, but the end result was pretty poor, so next I'll try camera recording! I think I need many more hours practice!

Another webinar I watched was a new twist on Facebook advertising, but I still have to find time to implement it. I have recently discovered kindle blogs and am in the process of uploading over 300 articles I have written, to kindle. This is another way to get traffic to my website. I am also adding them to "dig".

Back-links I'm told are essential and I should enlist paid help via Fiverr to set them up. Oh and I plan to set up a weekly newsletter with all manner of interesting links. I love what I am doing but would love a magic wand to implement them all immediately.

One day it will all be in place and I will be satisfied with it all, meanwhile I shall keep ploughing through my plans. It is true once you get used to doing something new, you soon become quicker at it; but then there is something else to learn!
